Pinene is known as a terpenoid which is the essential oil which gives plants a protective shield against attack from microbes and parasites and gives off a pine like aroma which is a repellent warning to insects.
Pinene has powerful anti-bacterial, antifungal and antivirus properties and can also relieve stress and fatigue when ingested and inhaled. Alpha pinene, recognised for its potential anti-inflammatory and bronchodilator properties, is believed to enhance focus, alertness, and memory. Beta pinene is associated with potential anti-anxiety and neuroprotective pinene terpene effects.
