Deoxybenzoin

Deoxybenzoins are polyphenols which act as potent antioxidants and tyrosinase inhibitors with the ability to relax arteries in the human body and protect the heart. They are also intermediates in the syntheses of isoflavones and have antimicrobial and antiviral properties.

Deoxybenzoins are being studied for their potential as selective oestrogen receptor modulators for hormone replacement therapy or cancer treatment.

Studies indicate that certain deoxybenzoins can also act as potent inhibitors of arterial contraction, suggesting potential for development as treatments for cardiovascular diseases.
