Cancer is one of the worst of all human body disorders because it does not seem to matter how fit and active someone is, or what age they are, it can strike anytime, anywhere and many types, if left untreated, can be fatal. In a healthy person, cancer cell 'apoptosis' is a normal, healthy part of biology. Every living system creates abnormal cells. There are hundreds or thousands of 'micro tumours' in every human being living today and, in normal healthy people, these abnormal cells are triggered to destroy themselves once the system realises they are flawed.

Cancer is a malfunction of this process and develops when there is a lack of the 'activating' chemical messengers that would naturally cause these abnormal cells to 'commit suicide'. Instead, these abnormal cells continue to multiply because the body is not providing the 'halting' message to tell them to stop. There are many reasons why these chemical messengers are not being manufactured and activated in sufficient numbers in the body but one of the most common reasons may be down to what a person consumes (or rather does not consume) in their diet.

Minerals, vitamins, fatty acids and other nutrients all rely upon each other and work in teams with and against each other. If a person is lacking in one of them (or more) the delicate balance which the body needs to carry out its everyday processes will suddenly be out of kilter and cancer can be the result.

Food production and pharmaceutical industries have become so profit driven that they use cheaper, and often toxic, ingredients which, over a period of time, can build-up in the body and lead to cell damage. The adverse results of scientific tests of many medications are often not disclosed which means people are being unnecessarily poisoned but the money being made means more to these companies than the consumer's health and welfare.

Many common drugs also cause very serious deficiencies in the very vitamins and minerals required by the body to build the messenger proteins that will prevent cancer developing. Eventually, as has happened with antibiotics, nicotine and smoking, doctors will realise that the toxic drugs they are convinced are good for people ,and so are constantly prescribing to their patients, are perhaps not always the best solution and that the nutrients from the foods these patients consume (and do not consume) is far more important to their health.


The fact that they have been convinced by pharmaceutical companies to prescribe drugs to healthy people, just in case they may develop some disorder, is astonishing and of great concern as these drugs also cause nutrient deficiencies and imbalances that can lead to disorders of bodily processes and even cancer eventually.

The human body hosts one hundred trillion different species of bacteria, most of which are harmless as long as they reside in the right location in the body. The number of bacteria living within the body of the average healthy adult human are estimated to outnumber human cells 10 to one meaning human beings are actually are 90% microbial and 10% human.

The pathogenic bacteria are constantly put in check by the growth of the beneficial bacteria. These probiotic bacteria are responsible for more than just that though. They are involved in the processes which manufacture the 'messengers' which tell cancer cells to die.

They are also involved in processes which manufacture nutrients for all the body's cells and processes and this includes fighting off bacterial, viral and yeast infections. Without them the human body would cease to be.

The utmost importance of these organisms cannot be stressed enough, yet they are not considered when planning meals. They must be provided with the right foods containing all the nutrients necessary for them to perform their roles.

Many drugs, excessive sugar and alcohol can upset the balance of the intestinal bacteria which can then lead to many health disorders that, if left untreated, can cause debilitating conditions and even lead to cancer.

Fibre is one of the most vital ingredients; it should be eaten on a daily basis to feed the beneficial bacteria in the intestines and aid digestion. Without this, the system begins to break down. Unprocessed whole grains, fruit and vegetables are the only way to gain enough fibre to keep the system working well.

The correct balance of vitamins and minerals is also required because they are all interlinked with the bacteria in the body and without just one of them, natural processes within the human system begin to stop working.

Prebiotic foods containing carbohydrates such as as inulin encourages a healthy intestinal environment to benefit probiotic intestinal flora. Prebiotic is a fairly recently coined name to refer to food components that support the growth of certain kinds of bacteria in the colon (large intestine). Oligosaccharides, resistant  starch and fermentable fibre feeds these bacteria who have an important influence on the rest of the body.

The human digestive system has a hard time breaking down many of these carbohydrates. Almost 90% escapes digestion in the small intestine and reaches the colon where it performs a different function: that of a prebiotic. The bacteria that feed on fermentable carbohydrate produce many beneficial substances, including short-chain fatty acids, vitamin A, vitamin K2 and certain B vitamins. They also promote further absorption of some minerals that have escaped the small intestine, including calcium and magnesium and vitamin K2 is vital for the use of vitamin D in the body.

Making a rich soup with any of these ingredients and consuming daily can help to restore the balance of the intestinal flora. Add plain yoghurt, spices and herbs for added benefit.

Probiotic foods contain beneficial bacteria and come from the fermentation process that the food has been allowed to undergo. During and after any treatment with antibiotics, it is advisable to include more probiotic foods in the daily diet to replenish the friendly bacteria that are wiped out by antibiotics. It is advisable to consume probiotics at least an hour before other foods to enable enough friendly bacteria to survive and pass through the strong stomach acids.

Trying to take a shortcut using supplements is pointless because they do not contain the natural and correct micro-nutrient co-factors which natural food does. For instance; there is no point consuming fat-soluble nutrients like carotenoids, lycopene, lutein, zeaxanthin, vitamin A, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin K on their own as they will not be absorbed without fats.

Another example is that vitamin C increases iron uptake, while vitamin E inhibits it. Vitamin C lowers manganese and zinc, while vitamin E helps increase manganese and zinc absorption. As a result, a very high intake of vitamin C will require an equally high intake of vitamin E to maintain the same ratio. Taking excessive vitamin C supplements can elevate the blood sugar and is especially dangerous for elderly women and, because it increases iron absorption, it may help to feed cancerous cells which thrive on iron especially if vitamin E is not present in the same levels. It is always best to consume foods rich in nutrients rather than supplements which will invariably cause imbalances where natural food does not.

Many minerals in supplements are in forms that cannot be utilised by the human body.

Every human body is uniquely different and must be treated as such. If it is provided with a wide array of organic pure foods it will naturally use just what it needs and expel the rest. Interrupt this process by introducing powerful synthetic chemicals, concentrates or extracts and the result can be disastrous, even fatal.


Antioxidants derived from food sources play a vital role in keeping free radicals in check, but the latest studies call into question high levels of antioxidant supplementation. Among the most popular antioxidant supplements are vitamin C, vitamin E, beta-carotene, the pre-cursor form of vitamin A or  lycopene and lutein. Taking these supplements containing high doses,  instead of consuming natural foods containing these nutrients, can have the opposite effect desired and actually protect cancerous tumour cells from the body's defences. Antioxidants can even accelerate the growth of early tumours or precancerous lesions in high-risk people such as smokers and patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease who receive vitamin E and N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) to relieve mucus production.


Fifty years of scientific studies indicate that most diseases seen in developed countries, as well as the leading causes of death, are the result of diet. A major cause of cancer is believed to be nutrient deficiency. Most people are unaware they are deficient in any mineral or other nutrient because there are very few obvious symptoms until major organs become affected. The skin, hair and nails are usually the first parts of the body to show signs of any deficiency; minor infections and repetitive colds and flu are also indicators.

A full blood count test should be done to find out which nutrients are lacking but, unfortunately, doctors do not have the resources to test everyone who shows these signs or yet know enough about the micro-processes within the body and the minerals and other nutrients that support them. Therefore, people with nutrient deficiencies go undiagnosed until some more serious condition arises, which is often too late if cancer has also manifested itself.

The system’s 'realisation' of abnormal cells requires constant cell communication from the 'messengers' and that is dependent on the correct balance of friendly bacteria, vitamins, minerals, fibre, fats, carbohydrates and proteins plus water being available in the body.

Multiple nutrient deficiency can go unnoticed for quite some time which is why seemingly healthy people and even ultra-fit athletes can be struck by cancer too. Developing these nutrient deficiencies can be due to genetic, environmental, pharmaceutical, dietary and/or lifestyle factors.


  • Alcohol, drug abuse, too much coffee and smoking tobacco can cause nutrient deficiencies especially of the B vitamins and minerals such as zinc.

  • Avoiding vegetables and fruits of any particular colour. All colours must be consumed for different phytonutrients.

  • Choosing confectionary or snacks in place of balanced nutritious meals.

  • Eating too much refined and processed food which contains low levels of nutrients and far too much animal fat, salt and sugar.

  • Food allergies cause intestinal irritation which can lead to the malabsorption of nutrients and gut permabi8lity issues and this can cause the immunes system to attack the body's own tissues.

  • Intensive farming techniques leech important minerals from the soil.

  • Insufficient daily probiotic and fibre-rich foods, such as whole grains, cereals, pulses, seeds, nuts, vegetables and fruits.

  • Low-calorie, low-fat and weight-reduction diets.

  • Long-term administration of medications which force expulsion of many minerals and stop absorption of vitamins, such as the B vitamins, especially B12.

  • Performing a great deal of strenuous physical activity and not replenishing reserves, especially minerals. See Sports Nutrition.

  • Psychological stress and worry can cause causing digestive disorders leading to malabsorption of nutrients.

There is also a huge surge in vitamin D deficiency because, due to fear of skin cancer, the increased use of sunscreens are blocking out all of the sun's rays and many people work all day indoors so this vital nutrient is not being manufactured by the skin. Just 15 minutes of outdoor midday sun, two to three times a week, on exposed clean skin can manufacture sufficient vitamin D which is then stored in the body fat. If the body has a level of less than 75 nmol/L (30 ng/mL) by the end of the summer in the northern hemisphere of the planet, it will take just one month to deplete this store and become vitamin D deficient. During the winter months extra should be consumed through vitamin D rich foods. Many indigenous tribes, especially those in South America, have never known a case of cancer amongst their people; it is assumed this is due to their diets and pollution- and toxin-free lifestyles. They consume natural foods and have learned, over thousands of years, which foods keep them healthiest. Modern man has cut corners and is intent on making high profits from food and drug production; industrial food production practices have lowered the nutritional quality of food and this, as well as the enormous rise in drug-taking, is causing nutrient deficiencies to spread rapidly across the world at a similar rate to the increase of cancer cases.

Refined foods, such white rice, white flour and table salt, are very low in nutritional value, especially minerals, because very often the most nutritious part of the food is removed and discarded or sold to other industries that pay well for minerals. Cheap nutrient-free substances are often used in processed foods in order to gain higher profits and this leaves the consumer lacking in nutrients they need to function properly. ‘Fast food’ has become normal practice in the developed world because people no longer have the time to be in control of what they consume and go for taste and feeling full instead of eating what their body needs.

The body is an complex machine where every nutrient is required in sufficient levels, many on a daily basis, in order for molecular processes to take place. All these components work intricately together in teams as co-factors and water is important, as well as physical exercise, to ensure these components flow around the body and get to where they are needed.



It is becoming increasingly obvious that many modern health issues such as cancer and diabetes may be due to deficiency of minerals in the diet. Many minerals are lacking in the diets of developed nations because they have been leeched from the soil due to intensive farming techniques especially calcium, copper, magnesium, potassium, selenium and zinc.  It is therefore advisable to consume organically grown fruit and vegetables or marine based vegetation, like algae and seaweeds, as these are not intensely farmed using artificial fertilisers.

It goes without saying that, if levels of these vital minerals have been reduced  then so have many other trace elements that the body also requires such as boron, caesium, chromium, germanium, iridium, manganese, molybdenum, rhodium, rubidium, silicon and vanadium. These are not all of them by any means because, by most research, there are about 70-80 minerals and trace elements that are critical to the full development and health of most plants and animals including human beings and more are being discovered all the time.

Refining and processing foods also strips out many important minerals and other nutrients and due to the fast pace of life, the Western diet has become reliant on these foods with poor nutritional content. People are constantly being told to exercise more which only exacerbates the problem because additional physical activity uses up these minerals quicker and the body will expel minerals through perspiration. The consumption of alcohol, caffeine and drugs further diminishes minerals in the body. It is therefore no wonder that these health issues are becoming more apparent within the populations of developing countries.

Unfortunately, although chemotherapy and radiation treatment may work for certain types of cancers in some people, the chemicals and radioactive minerals used further displaces minerals that are already deficient and may have caused the cancerous tumours in the first place. This is why this conventional treatment does not work for everyone. It is important to ensure that sufficient minerals are being consumed especially by those undergoing chemo or radiation treatments.

In parts of the world where soils are still rich in these elements because farming has not taken place, such as the South American rain forests, the human inhabitants do not develop cancers. Rubidium, along with caesium and potassium, has been shown to be effective in preventing cancer. Rubidium helps to regulate the flow of iron into the bloodstream, which in turn helps in better absorption of iron. When there is enough iron present in the blood, rubidium acts as a block and stops more iron from being let into the blood which may be one reason it can help to prevent cancer. It is well known that cancerous cells thrive on iron.

The incidence of cancer in the Hopi native tribe of the Amazon is one in 1000 as compared to one in four in developed nations as a whole. Hopi food is higher in all the essential minerals than conventional foods and it is especially rich in caesium, potassium and rubidium because the soil where they reside is volcanic. These people live chiefly on desert grown flint corn ('Zea mays indurata') products but instead of using baking soda they use the ash of chamisa leaves (Ericameria nauseosa), a desert grown plant. The analysis of this ash shows it to be very rich in rubidium. The Hopi also eat many fruits per day, especially apricots, including the kernels.

In 1985, the incidence of cancer among the Pueblo native tribe was also one in 1000, the same as the Hopi, as their food, at that time, was essentially the same. But unlike the Hopi, the Pueblo began to consume certain products from outside their environment and supermarkets were introduced to the area. Today, the incidence of cancer among the Pueblos has now risen to one in four. The higher incidence of cancer is obviously due to reduced levels of caesium, potassium, rubidium and other nutrients in supermarket foods.

The natives who live in Central America and on the highlands of Peru and Ecuador also have very low incidences of cancer and again the soil in these areas is volcanic. Fruit from the areas has been obtained and analysed for rubidium and caesium and found to run very high in both elements. Cases have been reliably reported where people with advance inoperable cancer have gone to live with these Indians and found that all tumour masses disappear within a  few months.

Cancer is unknown among the Hunza of Pakistan. They are mainly vegetarian and great fruit eaters, often consuming up to 40 apricots per day including the kernels, either directly or as a meal. They also drink at least two litres of mineral water from the natural springs that surround them. This water has been analysed and found to be very rich in caesium. Since the soil in their habitat is volcanic in nature, it must be concluded that it will also be rich in potassium and rubidium.

NOTE: In the body, because rubidium substitutes for potassium, too much can be dangerous therefore supplements are not recommended. Large amounts cause hyperirritability and spasms.



There are at least 100 known minerals which are vital in the diet to fight and prevent cancer. 20 years ago the incidence of cancer among the Pueblo Indians was 1 in 1000 compared to 1 in 4 in developed nations. It was the same as that for the Hopi Indians, since their food was essentially the same. But unlike the Hopi, these Indians have accrued certain items from outside their environment, hence supermarkets were installed in the area. Today the incidence of cancer among the Pueblos has now risen to 1 in 4. It must be emphasised that the high incidence of cancer is not due to what is in the supermarket foods, hut rather to what is not in it. It is essentially lacking in caesium and rubidium and low in magnesium, potassium and zinc.

The Indians who live in Central America and on the highland of Peru and Ecuador have very low incidences of cancer and some tribes in South America never develop cancers at all. The soil, in the areas where cancer is scarce, is volcanic. Fruit from the areas has been obtained and analyzed for rubidium and caesium and found to run very high in both elements. Cases have been reliably reported where people with advanced inoperable cancer have gone to live with these Indians and found that all tumour masses disappear within a very few months.

The seeds and stones of fruits such as apricots and peaches are one of the main courses of food in cultures such as the Navajo Indians, the Hunzas, the Abkhasians and many more. Within these tribes there has never been a reported case of cancer. The Hunzas also consume millet as part of their staple diet and are reportedly very healthy and long lived.


NOTE: The seeds and stones of most fruits also contain cyanide so should not be taken without the appropriate guidance of how to prepare them.


The inorganic mineral compounds of iridium and rhodium not only protect against cancer they can also cause cancerous cells to die. Other natural foods rich in these compounds are: almonds, carrots, flaxseed oil, grape seeds, green tea, shiitake mushrooms and watercress.

Betulinic acid is a tumour fighting, antifungal and antibacterial compound found in the bark of white birch trees which can treat skin cancers, melanoma, actinic keratosis, lung, colorectal, breast, prostate and cervical cancers. Chaga mushrooms and winged beans and are also prime sources of betulinic acid.


Lactoferrin found in cottage cheese, cow's milk (organic unpasteurised), goat's milk (organic unpasteurised) kefir milk, yoghurt and whey suppresses cancer and tumour growth and prevents the spreading of cancer to the lungs and liver and is especially effective against skin cancer and leukaemia. Excessive amounts of iron in the diet may increase the risk of developing certain types of cancer. Many diseases and cancers need iron to reproduce and grow. By starving cancer cells of iron, lactoferrin helps deprive them of life.


High intakes of foods containing phytosterols, particularly sitosterol, can inhibit cancerous tumours. Unlike normal cells, abnormal (cancerous) cells lose their ability to respond to death signals that initiate apoptosis (programmed cell death). Foods rich in phytosterols have been found to induce apoptosis in human prostate, breast and colon cancer cells. Lettuce and capers are very rich sources of phytosterols.

Vitamin A: Tomatoes (especially cooked) contain carotenoids and, when consumed with fat-rich foods such as avocado, fish, nut, seed or other plant oils, have been proven to fight against cancer. For the carotenoids to be absorbed, and for vitamin A to be made, foods such as tomatoes and carrots must be consumedtogether with fat-rich foods because they are fat-soluble meaning they are only absorbed into the body along with fats. Cold-pressed coconut and rapeseed oil s are particularly good to cook with as they have a higher burning temperature than other oils and more nutrients.

The development of cancerous cells can have so many variables that it is virtually impossible to pin-point the root cause accurately in any one individual. However, the modern day diet, environment and lifestyle are, most probably, the main factors that have manifested such an exceptional increase in disorders such as cancer in the developed world.

NOTE: Although the body does need to consume at least eight of the 20 amino acids of protein in small quantities every day because the body cannot manufacture them, too much protein in the diet can cause serious health issues and is not the answer to preventing or treating cancer and could, in fact, worsen the condition. When cells duplicate they produce new cells with identical DNA. But every one in a million has a fault in the DNA makeup and is an abnormal cell. In a nutritionally balanced individual these abnormal cells are instructed on a molecular level to commit suicide and are dissolved. However, if certain phytochemicals are missing, this normal procedure does not take place and the abnormal cells begin to multiply and cause a mass of abnormal cells known as a tumour which can be benign or malignant.


A tumour is a mass or lump of tissue made up of uncontrolled, duplicating abnormal cells. Tumours can be benign or malignant. Benign tumours are not cancerous, and cells from benign tumours do not spread to other parts of the body. In most cases, benign tumours do not come back after they are removed. Benign tumours are rarely a threat to life. Malignant tumours are cancerous. They are generally more serious and can invade and damage nearby tissues and organs.


This means the duplicating abnormal cells will stay in one place and not cause any serious health issues unless the tumour grows too large. On many occasions a benign tumour can be stopped from growing by the body's own natural defences and can remain in the body for life without causing any symptoms or health problems.


This means that the mass of duplicating cells have got out of control and the body's natural defence system has been unable to stop them spreading to other parts of the system. This will happen when the balance of the bodies naturally manufactured chemicals has been upset. This can happen for a variety of reasons but diet is often fundamentally the root cause.

Benign (not cancer) breast conditions are very common. Women’s breasts are constantly going through change, from the time of their development, through pregnancy and the menopause. This is because of the varying levels of the female hormones oestrogen and progesterone in your body. Many breast changes will be diagnosed as being a benign breast condition that may or may not need treatment but it is always better to be safe than sorry so it is important to get checked as soon as possible.

Women who eat a low animal fat diet have lower levels of the female hormone, oestrogen, in their blood and this reduces the risk of breast cancer, especially in the years after the menopause when body fat is the richest source of oestrogen. However oils from fish, nuts, seeds and plants are an important part of the diet because many nutrients, such as carotenoids are fat soluble meaning they need fat present to be absorbed. Therefore, when eating any plant foods, it is advisable to consume these healthy oils at the same time.

Having more than eleven moles on one arm indicates a higher-than-average risk of skin cancer (melanoma). Counting moles on the right arm has been found to be a good indicator of total moles on the body. Those with more than eleven on their right arm are more likely to have more than 100 on their body in total, meaning they are at a higher risk of developing a melanoma.  More than 100 indicates five times the normal risk. Freckles are simply small brown discolourations and are not indicators of any risk whereas moles are flat, raised, smooth or rough and may have hair growing from them. Any changes to any mole on the body needs to be investigated such as bleeding from them, dryness, itching and uneven edges or changes in colour.

The inclusion of artichoke, basil, celery, cod, grape seeds, hemp seeds, nutmeg, okra, olives (in brine), parsley, peppermint, thyme and winged beans in the diet may help with treating skin cancer..

External Skin Treatments

Garlic: For a cancerous mole, take a slice of garlic and hold it on the affected area externally for a few minutes until it begins to sting. Then rub in a little vitamin E or coconut oil afterwards. Do this twice a day for three or four days until the mole dries up and it should then disappear. Have it checked anyway.

Make a paste in a blender with the dried poke root, red clover blossoms, (fresh or dried) with slippery elm, finely chopped garlic, apple cider vinegar, charcoal and bloodroot. Apply a paste and cover with some clean cotton wool pads and tape into place. Leave on overnight.

Tea tree oil and bicarbonate of soda baths and cold-pressed coconut oil and vitamin E oil used like a moisturiser can also help to treat skin cancer.


If any of the signs and symptoms above are present, a visit to the health professional is required immediately so tests can be done. The faster this takes place the quicker the treatment and the more chance of success. Cancer is one disease that must be caught as early as possible because it can spread so rapidly. Symptoms can easily be contended with until they affect daily life and become painful but by this time it is usually too late to treat it. Any unexplained new lumps should always be checked as soon as they appear.

Treatments offered can be surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, hormone therapy or gene therapy. Other therapies can help such as massages, reflexology, yoga or reiki.

There are both pros and cons to undergoing chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The side effects can be very difficult to contend with and may even cause so much stress that the body cannot cope with both the cancer and the treatment 

Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells but is also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

Radiation, while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs and can cause cancers to spread.

Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumour size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumour destruction.

When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation, the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications. Chemotherapy and radiation can also cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. It is a fact that many people die because of the treatments for cancer but are listed as having died of cancer itself.

Surgery is usually successful at removing cancerous tumours but it  can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites. It is often a difficult process if brain tumours are involved and may often be impossible to do because of potential damage to other brain cells.

Very early detection improves the outcome of all treatments tremendously as does switching to a very healthy sugar free, low animal fat diet and a chemical free living environment.


Cat's claw (Uncaria tomentosa): Cancer patients taking cat's claw, in conjunction with chemotherapy and radiation treatments, have fewer side effects like hair loss, nausea, secondary infections and weight loss. Components in cat's claw can also aid in DNA cellular repair and prevent cells from mutating. They can also help prevent loss of white blood cells and immune cell damage caused by many chemotherapy drugs.

Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) has been proven to be able to eliminate heavy metals from the system and is a useful herb to consume after cancer treatment.

Curry leaves (Murraya koenigii) are useful in the reduction of the side effects from both chemotherapy and radiation therapy.

Liquorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra) and milk thistle (Silybum marianum) help to protect the liver from damage due to chemotherapy.

NOTE: If suffering from high blood pressure, a heart condition, oedema or are taking certain medications such as warfarin or diuretics, do not take liquorice root.

Metallic taste during chemotherapy treatment

A strong and unpleasant metallic taste is a very common side effect of chemotherapy and some other medications, including some opioid medications (pain medications such as morphine that act on the central nervous system) and antibiotics, can also cause taste changes. The taste changes  usually stop about three to four weeks after the end of treatment but an aversion to certain foods may remain permanently however, there are some natural ways to combat this.

Types of chemotherapy commonly associated with taste changes:

  • Cisplatin (Platinol)

  • Cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan, Neosar)

  • Doxorubicin (Adriamycin)

  • Fluorouracil (5-FU, Adrucil)

Ways to combat the metallic taste during drug or chemotherapy

  • Do not eat one to two hours before chemotherapy and up to three hours after therapy.

  • Add a pinch of bicarbonate of soda and a pinch of unrefined sea salt to a glass of water and gargle with it before eating. This will also help to ward of mouth sores.

  • Clean the teeth with a paste made from coconut oil and bicarbonate of soda.

  • Eat mints or chew gum or ice to mask the bitter or metallic taste.

  • Sucking boiled sweets such as lemon drops or citrus fruits can help.

  • Use plastic utensils if food tastes like metal.

  • Avoid canned drinks or pour them into a glass first.

  • Adding something acidic such as apple cider vinegar, lemon or lime juice or pickles to meals can help to neutralise the metallic taste.

  • Sometimes a little sweetener, like honey, can help. If foods taste too sweet add drops of lemon or lime until it is acceptable.

  • If food tastes too salty, a quarter of a teaspoon of lemon juice can erase that.

  • If food tastes too bitter add some honey.

  • If everything tastes like cardboard, sprinkle with Himalayan pink salt crystals or unrefined sea salt.

  • Try eating foods that are spiced with chilli and curry spices. However, if being treated with radiation or if there are sores in the mouth too much spice may burn.

  • Cold or frozen foods often taste better to those going through treatment. Unless taking oxaliplatin (Eloxatin]), which makes it difficult to ingest anything cold.

  • Try protein sources such as beans, dairy products, eggs, nuts, poultry and seeds instead of red meats if they taste metallic or marinate red meats in fruit juices, sweet wines, salad dressings or other sauces.

  • Ice cream, milkshakes, sundaes and other extremely sweet foods help many.

  • Only eat the foods that smell and taste good. Try some new foods as the altered taste may make them suddenly appealing.  Avoiding favourite foods during chemotherapy helps to prevent permanent aversions to those foods.



Algae such as spirulina and chlorella can detoxify the body of radiation, uranium, lead and copper due to the rich content of chlorophyll. Other foods rich in chlorophyll include: aloe vera, ashitaba, bean sprouts, celery, coriander, green leafy vegetables, green leafy herbs, hemp seeds, parsley, seaweed, spirulina, wheatgrass.

Seaweed, also called sea vegetables, is not only an excellent source of nutrients, but rich in minerals such as sodium alginate and iodine. These elements that are very effective at protecting the body from radiation and removing it. Kelp is the best known seaweed, but other popular ones are called arame, nori, wakame and kombu. Kelp contains alginic acid which can help protect the body against the effects of radiation.


Pectin is a structural polysaccharide found in the cell walls of plants and fruits and has the ability to bind radioactive residues and remove them from the body. Pectin acts as a natural chelating agent, which is a compound that has an affinity for other molecules. Chelating agents bind to other compounds, dragging them out of tissues or the bloodstream, so they can be removed from the body in urine or faeces. Pectin is high in the skin of fruits especially: apples, citrus fruits, gooseberries, guavas and plums


Foods high in alpha lipoic acid in combination with vitamin E rich foods are an effective treatment for radiation poisoning. But foods rich in vitamin C must be also consumed at the same time.

There have been many cases reported where asparagus has been able to eliminate cancerous tumours in the body completely. This may be due to it's ability to reduce the accumulation of iron in the body. Cancerous cells need iron to multiply. The glutathione antioxidant properties and vitamin K content are additional anti-cancer agents found in asparagus so regular consumption is obviously beneficial to both protect against and treat cancerous tumours.

Treatment for cancer

Place cooked organic asparagus in a blender and liquefy to make a puree. Store in the refrigerator (lasts 2-3 days). Take four full tablespoons twice daily, morning and evening. It can be diluted with water and used as a cold or hot drink. This suggested dosage is based on past reports, but larger amounts can do no harm and may be needed in some cases. Improvement can begin to show in about 2-4 weeks.


Since 2012, the saponins in agave schottii have been investigated for cancer treatment. Cactus plants growing on low nutrient soils and/or under harsh climatic conditions, such as extreme temperatures, intense solar radiation and water scarcity, are particularly susceptible to attack from reactive oxygen species and have evolved efficient anti-oxidation defence systems. The many examples of desert plants displaying anticancer effects  indicates that the same defensive secondary metabolites protecting them against the harsh environment may also play a protective or a curative role against cancer, as they also do against diabetes,  neurodegenerative and other acute and chronic diseases. Since many of the native tribes in America, who have been using cactus in their diets for thousands of years have never developed cancer and this may be the reason why.  




Many studies, including one done by the Kentucky University, have discovered that there are inorganic mineral compounds such as iridium and rhodium in grape seeds and colloidal gold in black grape skins which causes cancer cells to 'commit suicide' within 24 hours without affecting surrounding healthy cells.

Leukaemia cancer cells exposed to grape seed extract are rapidly killed through the process of cell suicide "apoptosis.". An astonishing 76% of leukaemia cells committed suicide within 24 hours thanks to the ability of compounds found in grape seeds which activates a protein called JNK, which regulates apoptosis.
A tumour is the result of out of control cell growth. To assure that the cell cycle - the cell's process of duplicating itself to make more cells - goes smoothly, a large network of proteins tells other proteins what to do and when to do it. When any of these layers of protein regulation fail, cell growth can get out of hand. On the molecular level, JNK influences cellular functions by tagging other proteins with a phosphate chemical group (a process known as phosphorylation), a common mechanism cells use to turn enzymes on and off. Phosphorylation is so important that when JNK goes awry, a number of different disorders can result, such as cancer, diabetes or neurodegenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease.

This JNK activating compound cannot be found in seedless grapes (obviously) or grape seed oil as the process to make the oil removes it. Grape seed extract can be found as a supplement but, if you can find grapes with the seeds intact, it is perfectly safe to chew and swallow the seeds and may help in the fight against cancer. Why not try grinding the seeds (which do taste bitter) into a powder and adding to meals and drinks daily to take advantage of this healthy and nutritious source of cancer fighting food?


NOTE: Side effects from consuming grape seeds may include dizziness, headaches, itchy scalp and nausea. Anyone who has a bleeding disorder or high blood pressure should consult a healthcare professional before consuming grape seeds.


Artemisinin is derived from the wormwood herb. Iron is required for cell division, and it is well known that many cancer cell types selectively accumulate iron for this purpose due to special receptors that help them in cell division, called transferring receptors. Most cancers have a very large number of iron attracting transferring receptors on their cell surface compared to normal non cancerous cells.

In tests, radiation resistant breast cancer cells, that have a high propensity for accumulating iron, revealed that artemisinin has 75 percent cancer cell killing properties in a 8 hours and almost 100 percent killing properties within 24 hours whilst normal cells were left unharmed.

Artemisinin is effective against a wide variety of cancers such as leukaemia, colon cancer, melanoma, breast, ovarian, prostate, central nervous system and renal cancer.

Artemisinin should be taken with a combination of nutritional supplements (such as green tea, CoQ10 and pancreatic enzyme) as well as a good anti-cancer diet. It is advisable to consume iron rich foods prior to starting treatment with artemisinin. See the Iron section.

Artemisinin should always be taken with food. Cod liver oil , cottage cheese or oily fish should be consumed at the same time to enhance absorption. Generally, 400 to 800 mg per day can be used for at least 6 to 12 months. After that, it can be tapered off slowly.

It should be taken 2-3 hours before or after foods rich in antioxidants such as vitamin C.

Artemisinin is a "cooling herb" according to Chinese medicine and some may find it too "cooling" with symptoms such as tingling. If this occurs, then the dosage should be reduced.

As the herb comes from China and South-east Asia, proper quality assurance on purity and standardization is of tremendous importance. High-grade artemisinin must always be confirmed by independent laboratory analysis on a batch by batch basis to ensure consistence and purity.

Although artemisinin is insoluble in water, it is able to cross the blood brain barrier and therefore may be particularly suitable for curing brain tumours when used in conjunction with Poly-MVA (an metalo-vitamin).

When alpha-lipoic acid, a powerful antioxidant with many biological functions, is connected to an electrically charged metal substrate, and joined with various B vitamins, the resulting Poly-MVA complex becomes totally soluble in both water and fat. It can easily and safely travel throughout the body and into every cell, crossing the blood-brain barrier as well.

The fact that iron content of cancer cells is high has also been used in another anti-cancer therapy called Zoetron therapy, where iron containing cancer cells are induced into motion using a magnetic device to induce resonance. Resonance generates heat. Cancer cells are more sensitive to heat compared to normal healthy cells. When cancer cells are heated to a certain temperature, they die while normal cells still survive.



Preventing angiogenesis, which is the formation of new blood vessels that helps cancers to grow, by including at least two of any of the following foods in the daily diet is a way to help prevent and reduce cancerous tumour growth. A diet of anti-angiogenic foods is also found to reverse obesity. The following points should be taken into consideration:

  • Always choose organic unprepared produce.

  • Always consume fruits (fresh or dried) with nuts and/or seeds.

  • Always consume red, yellow or orange coloured vegetables with some cold pressed oil or fat-rich foods such as avocado, coconut oil, fish, nuts or seeds.

  • Consume the skins of fruits and vegetables when possible.

  • Heat can destroy some of the anti-angiogenic properties in foods except tomatoes where it enhances the content of lycopene and root vegetables that require cooking.

  • Always leave garlic and onions to stand for ten minutes after chopping to allow the chemical reaction that produces allicin to take place.

  • Try to vary the choice of the following anti-angiogenic foods every day of the week.

  • Algae and seaweed can provide many minerals that are often lacking in land-based crops. (consume one teaspoon of chlorella or spirulina daily).

  • Apple cider vinegar helps to cleanse the liver and lowers acidity in the body (take one tablespoon every morning in warm water before anything else).

  • Barley grass powder: Those that limit or eliminate meat and dairy products from their diet may be deficient in vitamin B12. One teaspoon of barley grass powder per day can readdress this deficiency as it is one of the rare plants to contain this essential vitamin.

  • Brazil nuts provide essential nutrients such as selenium (eat two per day)

  • Hemp seeds contain the correct ratio of omega-6 to omega-3 fatty acids of 4:1 as well as many other important nutrients. (take one tablespoon of ground hemps seeds per day).

  • Probiotic foods such as brine pickles, kefir milk, kimchi, kombucha, miso, sauerkraut and yoghurt (consume at least one of these foods daily).

  • Psyllium husks (one tablespoon per day with plenty of mineral water).


Balanced nutrition is the most important factor in both preventing and fighting off cancer so a diet that provides all the necessary proteins, fibre, vitamins, phytonutrients and minerals is essential. Natural organic non genetically modified foods without additives have been proven to prevent and even cure certain types of cancer because they contain far more naturally balanced nutrients and no synthetic chemicals or pesticide residues.

A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and fruit helps put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells drinking fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and consuming some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day is vital. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

Though some foods work particularly well in the prevention and cure of certain type of cancers, the diet should consist of a wide variety of nutritious natural foods and the following will all prevent many cancers as well as help to eliminate them. Infections are easily contracted when the body is suffering cancer so adding foods that can fight these infections is a way to help prevent this. The correct nutrients in place in the body will automatically trigger the processes which will, not only stop cancerous cells from replicating, but also trigger them to die naturally. Adding toxic noxious substances to the body is a gamble, at this time, as it has enough to contend with already without the damaging side effects of powerful chemicals.

Apple cider vinegar has great cleansing qualities especially for the liver and aids absorption of calcium.

Berries and rosehips contain proanthocyanidins and may prove beneficial in reverting and fighting cancer. Berries are one of the richest antioxidant fruits, containing the polyphenols, anthocyanins and the flavonoids beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin. These antioxidants protect the lungs from cancer, disease and infection. Dark coloured berries especially protect against lung cancer.

Cnidium monnieri seeds contain the coumarins osthol (or osthole) which has been found in studies to have anti-tumour activity.

Coconut milk and cold pure pressed coconut oil can be used instead of normal oils and cream and has very high nutritional value as well as antibacterial, antifungal, antivirus and anti-parasite properties.

Figs contain a derivative of benzaldehyde which has been reported to be highly effective at shrinking cancer tumours. Cancer patients should drink some freshly made fig leaf tea and eating some fresh figs daily.

Grape seeds: Leukaemia cancer cells exposed to grape seed extract (GSE) were rapidly killed through the process of cell suicide known as "apoptosis. In these laboratory studies, an astonishing 76% of leukaemia cells committed suicide within 24 hours thanks to the ability of the proanthocyanidins in grape seeds to activate a protein called JNK (c-Jun N-terminal kinase), which regulates apoptosis. Normal healthy cells were left unharmed and many other studies have revealed similar results. It is difficult to find grapes with the seeds intact these days but it is worth sourcing them, chewing and swallowing the seeds or grinding them into a powder to add daily to soups, meals and fruit drinks. Hemp seeds are a super food which has nigh nutritional content (rich in fatty acids, minerals and all essential amino acids) and has properties that invigorate circulation and metabolism and boost the immune system to help recover from and protect against cancer.

Jasmine tea can protect against cancer of the oesophagus, prostate and breast. Methyl jasmonate and cis-jasmone are two key chemical constituents of jasmine which have been shown to prevent these tumours.

Jiaogulan is a Chinese herb in traditional Chinese medicine. Gypenosides extracted from Jiaogulan decrease cancer cell viability, arrest the cell cycle, and induce apoptosis (cell death) in human cancer.

Maqui berry is a Chilean 'super fruit' which contains the highest amount of antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds than any other known natural food. Regular consumption can reduce pain and inflammation, promote detoxification, stimulate the immune system and protect against cancer especially of the colon.

Mashua has been shown to prevent the development of cancerous cells in stomach, colon, skin and prostate.

Nutmeg gives effective relief from digestion-related problems like diarrhoea, constipation, bloating and flatulence and can boost the appetite. Nutmeg can also help to clean the liver and kidneys and remove toxins so can be useful when being treated for cancer.

Oleander plant; the extract from this plant is a powerful immune system stimulator and inhibits angiogenesis and NF-kB factor in cancer cells. It also causes apoptosis in cancerous cells (natural cell death) and increased rates of autophagic cancer cell death when tested on pancreatic cancer.

Passion fruit contains components which have the ability to kill cancer cells.

Pau d'Arco tea or tincture concoctions have reportedly had beneficial effects for cancer patients, anywhere from alleviation of chemotherapy symptoms to complete remission of tumours especially when used in conjunction with cat's claw and jergon sacha.

Psyllium husks should be sprinkled into meals and drinks daily for their excellent fibre content. Always drink an extra glass of water after consuming psyllium husks. Fibre is essential for the processes in the intestines which produce nutrients which are responsible for preventing cells from becoming cancerous. Whole grains must be consumed daily. Raspberries are the richest source of ellagitannin which the body converts into ellagic acid. Ellagic acid activates detoxifying enzymes in the liver, resulting in the clearing of cancer causing substances in the serum. It can also prevent carcinogens from attaching to cellular DNA and stimulate the immune system to effectively fight cancer cells and triggers apoptosis (self-destruction of cancerous cells).

Soursop effectively targets and kills malignant cells in 12 types of cancer including colon, breast, prostate, lung and pancreatic cancer. The tree compounds proved to be up to 10,000 times stronger in slowing the growth of cancer cells than Adriamycin, a commonly used chemotherapeutic drug. What's more, unlike chemotherapy, the compound extracted from the Graviola tree selectively hunts down and kills only cancer cells. It does not harm healthy cells.

Sweet potato : Consumption of natural vegetables and fruits rich in flavonoids help to protect from lung and oral cavity cancers. A protein isolated from sweet potatoes has also recently been shown to slow the growth of colon cancer cells by 65%. It also inhibited lung tumours by 50%. Other lab research has shown that sweet potato also potently inhibits leukaemia, lymphoma and liver cancer cells. And in studies on humans, eating this super vegetable (alone or with other foods) has been associated with reducing the risk of kidney cancer by 56%, gallbladder cancer by 67% and breast cancer by 30% (when eaten three times weekly). Not only do sweet potatoes have a low glycaemic index, but they’ve even been shown in a clinical trial to help reduce blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity in adults with type II diabetes. Sweet potatoes also help with weight loss: a new study has just shown that sweet potato actually reduces appetite and food intake.

Turmeric is similar to ginger in its lung health benefits with anti-inflammatory properties. As an added bonus the high amounts of curcumin can lead to the elimination of cancer cells.


Yoghurt with live cultures should be consumed everyday, instead of cream, as a dressing and in sauces and soups.




The "5 a day" fruit and vegetables government advice is not entirely correct because the different colours of fruit and vegetables is also important. Nature has kindly colour coded foods for us and each one has different compounds which the body needs on a daily basis. Consuming one of each colour is vital for ultimate health. So choose at least one from each colour per day:  


1) RED - apples, beetroot, bell peppers, cherries, chilli peppers, cranberries, goji berries, mung beans, pinto beans, prickly pear, radishes, raspberries, red cabbage, rhubarb, red kidney beans, red onions, pomegranates, rose hips, strawberries, tomatoes


2) GREEN - apples, alfalfa, artichoke, ashitaba, asparagus, avocado, basil, bell peppers, broad beans, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, celery, chilli peppers, chives, collard greens, cress, courgettes, drumstick, green grapes, green olives, green beans, herb leaves, kale, kiwi fruit, lettuce, lime and peel, okra, oregano, parsley, peas, pumpkin seeds, rocket, seaweed, spinach, spring onions, sprouted seeds, grains, nuts and legumes, winged beans


3) YELLOW/ORANGE - apricots, bell peppers, carrots, chick peas, chilli peppers, corn, ginger, lemons, lentils, mango, oranges, papaya, peaches, pineapple, prickly pear, pumpkin, swede, sweet potato, tangerines, turmeric, the peel of yellow and orange citrus fruits


4) BLUE/PURPLE/BLACK - aubergine, beetroot, black bananas, black beans, blackberries, black currants, black tea, blueberries, dates, figs, black grapes, black olives, navy beans, plums, poppy seeds, prickly pear, prunes, purple broccoli tops, raisins


5) WHITE/CREAM - aubergine, just ripe bananas, brazil nuts, butter beans, butternut squash, cashew nuts, celery, chestnuts, coconut, garlic, leeks, macadamia nuts, mung beans, mushrooms, navy beans, onions, parsnip, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, pistachios, potatoes, radishes, soya beans, spring onions, turnip


6) BROWN/GOLD - brown rice, cocoa beans, dates, hazelnuts, mushrooms, nut skins, potatoes skins, seeds, walnuts, whole grains


Some fruits and vegetables have more than one colour like spring onions for instance where the base is white and the tops are green. To benefit from fruit, vegetables, beans, herbs and spices puree them in a blender as potage soups & juices. Beetroots possess betacyanin which gives them their deep red colour and provides the essential ingredient which can assist the body with recovery from many ailments and has shown to stop the spread of cancer tumours. Taken together as a raw juice with the following ingredients it can also boost the immune system and improve functions of the liver, pancreas, kidneys and the digestive tract.

  • 1 x beetroot

  • 1 x carrot

  • 1 x apple

  • 1 x lemon

Wash and chop the ingredients before placing in a juicer of at least 900 watts then drink immediately. Do this three times a day for maximum benefit. See more powerful juicing recipes.

Check the pH of your saliva with pHydrion paper. If your saliva pH is below 7.2 then you are at risk of infections. To increase your oral pH to a normal 7.2 or greater, drink 1 teaspoon of pure sodium bicarbonate salt (bicarbonate of soda) in 2 ounces of cooled boiled water. It is that simple to neutralise the acids that cause tooth cavities, mouth sores, Human Papilloma Virus, bacteria, yeast, virus and parasite infections and cancer, especially oral cancer. Cleaning the teeth after every meal with bicarbonate of soda instead of toothpaste can provide a toxin free way to eradicate the bad bacteria in the mouth as well as keep the body in a balance alkaline/acid state.




Frankincense, myrrh, lavender and lemongrass are essential oils that have shown to have a positive effect on reducing cancerous cells. Linalool is an aromatic oil produced by many plants which has been shown to kill cancer cells at a very low concentration. This can be applied topically or added to warm bath water to be absorbed and lavender oil can be ingested in very small quantities. See linalool for more information.


To allow the body to work naturally against the cancerous growths a corrected diet is absolutely vital. Time is of the essence because pathogenic bacteria and cancer cells replicate at an incredible speed so do not delay in following the guides on this page and immediately cut out the following:


Avoid food containing synthetic additives and artificial sweeteners in drugs, sugar free products like chewing gums and concentrated and fizzy drinks especially if they contain aspartame which has been proven to cause brain tumours in rats. See Dangers of Aspartame

CUT OUT: sugar, corn syrup, white flour, white rice, table salt, fatty red meats, margarine, concentrated and fizzy drinks, milk or white chocolate, cream, plant oils which are not virgin cold pressed, sweet or salty snacks, drugs, processed foods, pre-packaged cereals, frozen and premade ready meals, packaged and tinned sauces and soups, pies, pastries, biscuits, cakes.

COFFEE: Drink tea particularly green tea, coconut, barley water, fruit and vegetable juice instead. Coffee has many unhealthy adverse side affects and reduces the absorption of many nutrients. See Dangers of Coffee.

ANIMAL FATS: Use rapeseed, nut, olive, sesame, flaxseed and rice bran oils and consume halibut, krill oil, oily fish, nuts, seeds, whole grains, legumes and soya for protein instead.

WHITE FLOUR, TABLE SALT AND WHITE RICE: Use soya, rye, whole grain, brown rice & oatmeal flour instead. White flour, table salt and white rice has had the nutritious part stripped out in the production process and chlorine is used to bleach them white.

SUGAR AND CORN SYRUP: Use honey as a healthy nutritious alternative instead (pure Manuka and Acacia honeys are the best) or try using coconut milk, parsnips, sweet potato, raisins, dates, figs, apples, apricots, bananas, berries, peaches, pears, papaya, mango or melon to sweeten. Sugar should be avoided at all costs as it contains no nutrients, robs the body of essential phytonutrients in order to be metabolised into fat, is more to blame for obesity than consuming fat, is highly addictive and feeds the pathogenic (bad) bacteria, yeasts and viruses causing disease and cancer. Genetically modified crops are forced to resist more powerful pesticides, fungicides and herbicides then the consumer ingests residues of these chemicals. They are also changed to be able to withstand long transit and storage and to be more uniform and larger in size but this also changes their natural nutritional balance.

Intensive farming techniques leech important minerals from the soil which are never replaced. Hence the food grown in this soil is lacking in these minerals especially magnesium which is vital for human health.


Drink 2 litres of bottled mineral water everyday instead to avoid the impurities and chlorine and fluoride which is often added to tap water. Bottled water contains many vital minerals so is a far healthier alternative and water filters do not remove fluoride or chlorine.


Cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, game meats and poultry rather than beef, lamb or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer. If meat is desired choose wild lean unfarmed meats such as game birds, rabbit, venison and wild boar etc. Veal is one easily digested and very lean meat that can be included in the diet.

Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat, remaining in the intestines, will become putrefied and leads to more toxic build up. Never consume rare meats as the parasites may remain in the meat and cause more problems for the weakened immune system of a cancer sufferer.

1. Clear out the kitchen cupboards, refrigerator and freezer of all refined foods, food with any additives or E numbers, meat fats, premade ready meals, sauces, white flour, sugar, chocolate, coffee, savoury and sweet snacks and fizzy and concentrated drinks


2. Stock up on whole grains, honey, seeds, legumes, nuts, raisins, herbs and spices and teas especially green tea. Then buy fresh fish, meat, vegetables, yoghurt, eggs and fruit every few days. Try to buy organic wherever possible.


3. Invest in a powerful 900 watt juicer or a powerful Nutribullet to gain even more nutritional from fruit and vegetables. See the Raw Juice Therapy page.


4. Buy a pestle and mortar to grind up nuts, seeds and whole grains to make your own additive and chemical free flour and nut and seed butters with hemp seed oil, nut oils, rapeseed, olive or sesame oil.


5. Buy or collect some jars and fill them with seeds, nuts, dried fruits, herbs and spices then label them all.


6. Purchase a blender. Try steaming a wide selection of the vegetables listed below with the herbs and spices listed and a tablespoon or two of bottled or filtered water then place in a blender for a deliciously healthy potage soup and eat a small bowl before each meal. Similarly blend a wide selection of the fruits together with nutmeg, cinnamon and honey to provide a tasty nutritious 'smoothie'. Add live probiotic organic yoghurt to make the 'smoothie' or soup creamy. The blender will also allow you to make your own sauces with healthy ingredients and no additives.


7. Try home sprouting for an intensely nutritious Micro Diet which will provide many of the nutrients necessary to both ward off and fight cancer. Especially useful when appetite is low and so easy to grow in a jam jar with a daily rinse of water. See the Micro Diet Sprouting Page


8 Start lacto acid brine pickling of the vegetables, fruit, herbs and spices to add high absorption of phytonutrients and essential friendly bacteria to theIr diet everyday. Pickles made in this way will last for 12 months. See the Pickle page to find out how.

Why not try steaming a wide variety of colours of vegetables in a microwaveable tub with 1 or 2 tablespoon of water (vital minerals and vitamins leak out into water so use the least possible) then place the vegetables and the juice in a blender and add herbs and spices from the list below to make a pureed potage soup. Consume a small bowl of this before each meal.

Blend four or five different colours of of fruits from the list below and add nutmeg, cinnamon, honey, coconut and live probiotic yoghurt for a healthy nutrient rich 'smoothie'.


The Nutrients, Minerals, Protein and Fibre pages can help you understand body processes and the natural foods it needs to function correctly. The nutritional value of foods is important.

Stay away from substances that can further damage the body's natural processes such as  sugar, alcohol, coffee, medications, artificial additives such as aspartame, pesticides and household and cosmetic toxins.

Drink one litre of bottled mineral water per day to avoid chemicals additives such as fluoride and chlorine and provide more of the essential minerals the body needs. One glass should be consumed just before sleeping to help the body eliminate waste and toxins from the body and the brain.

Meat and eggs (Three times a week)

Beef (organic lean grass-fed), eggs, poultry and game birds, rabbit and venison.

Fish (Three times a week)

Anchovies, bloater fish, carp, cod, eel, halibut, herring, hilsa fish, kipper, mackerel, octopus, pilchards, salmon, sardines, shellfish, sprats, squid, swordfish, trout, tuna (fresh only) and whitebait and all other oily fish. Anchovies are high in sodium so not advised for those with high blood pressure but soaking them in wate and rinsing well before patting dry with kitchen paper can help reduce the salt content. Deep sea fish and bottom dwelling shellfish can be contaminated with mercury so it is advisable to consume these with some algae, coriander and other green leafy vegetables or sulphur-rich foods which can chelate (bind to) mercury and eliminate it from the body.

Dairy (Yoghurt and kefir milk daily and cheese three times a week)

Kefir milk, non-pasteurised blue cheese and yoghurt (plain with live cultures)

Fibre  (At least one every day)

Amaranth, barley, brown rice, buckwheat, millet, oats, quinoa and teff. Consume one tablespoon of psyllium husks per day in a large glass of water or sprinkled onto meals as it has powerful properties that can support  digestion and excretory processes and will work within two days to fix many colon and digestive issues.

Vegetables (A selection of at least four different colours per day)

Algae, alfalfa, artichoke, ashitaba, asparagus, aubergine, bell peppers (all colours), broccoli, carrot, celery, chicory, collard greens, courgettes, cress, cucumber, daikon, garlic, kelp, marrow, mushrooms, mustard greens, okra, seaweed and spinach, Swede, sweet potatoes, Swiss chard, turnips and watercress. Algae, such as chlorella and spirulina, contain many important nutrients and minerals often lacking in land-based crops. Take one tablespoon of one of them per day. Also consume three or four chopped garlic cloves per day. Let them and other allicin-producing plants, such as chives, leeks, onions and spring onions, stand for ten minutes to allow for the process, that produces allicin in these plants when they are damaged, to take place. Allicin has many powerful properties that benefit the health.

Legumes (Three times a week)

Black beans, black-eyed peas, broad beans, chickpeas, legumes, lentils, lima bean, mung beans, navy beans, peas, pinto bean, red kidney beans, soya beans and winged beans.

Fruit (A selection of 2 or 3 colours per day)

Apples, apricots, avocado, bananas, berries, cherries, kiwi fruit, lemons, limes, grapefruit, grapes (black or red), mango, maqui berries, mosambi juice, orange, papaya, peaches, pears, plums, pomegranate, tangerines and watermelon.

NOTE: grapefruit can interact with many medications.

Dried Fruit (As snacks or added to meals daily. Best eaten with a handful of nuts and seeds)

Apricots, dates, figs, goji berries, raisins and sultanas.

Juice (Pure, additive free, unsweetened, preferably home-made - daily as often as required)

Beetroot (raw), carrot, cranberry, elderberry, grape, lemon, lime, mosambi, nasturtium (freshly pressed), orange, papaya, pineapple, pomegranate and tangerine. See also Raw Juice Therapy for many raw juicing recipes.

Seeds (As snacks or added to meals daily)

Hemp, nasturtium, poppy, pumpkin, sesame, sunflower and watermelon. Hempseeds provide the correct balance of omega-6 (inflammatory) to omega-3 (anti-inflammatory) fatty acids and should be consumed daily. A handful of pumpkin seeds can be sprinkled on any dish or in sandwiches daily and add many important nutrients.

Nuts (As snacks or added to meals daily. Best consumed with fresh or dried fruits to obtain the correct balance of vitamin C and E)

Almonds (five per day), brazil nuts (2 per week unless diarrhoea or excessive sweating, through exercise or fever, has taken place, then eat 2 per day, cashews, chestnuts, coconut, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, pine nuts, walnuts (5 per day).

Alfalfa, almond, amaranth, barley, broccoli, buckwheat, cabbage, chickpea, corn, hazelnut, fenugreek, flaxseeds, kamut, leek, lemon grass, lentil, lettuce, milk thistle, mizuna, mung beans, mustard, oat, onion, pea, peanut, radish, rice, rocket, rye, quinoa, sesame, spinach, spring onions, sunflower, turnip and watercress.

Common Herbs (To be consumed as often as possible daily in meals or as teas)

Basil, cardamom, coriander, cloves, dill, lemongrass, marjoram, mint, oregano, parsley, rosemary, safflower, sage, tarragon and thyme.

Medicinal Herbs Angelica pubescens, borage, burdock root, black seed, cnidium monniera seeds, common stinging nettles, damiana leaves, dandelion, devil's claw, drumstick, elecampane, false unicorn, golden seal, ginkgo biloba, gotu kola, horsetail, hydrangea, Japanese or Chinese knotweed, jasmine, kudzu root extract, huang lian, lavender, liquorice root, lobelia, maca root, milk thistle, motherwort, noni, oatstraw, pan pien pien, passion flower, periwinkle, pine needles, Queen of the meadow, red clover, rock-rose flowers, saffron, saw palmetto, schizandra, scutellaria, slippery elm, yellow dock root, valerian, and wild strawberry leaf.

Spices (To be consumed as often as possible daily. Can be added to teas also)

Cardamom, cayenne pepper, cinnamon, cloves (three ground), cumin, coriander, ginger, Himalayan pink salt crystals, nutmeg, paprika, peppercorns (all colours), sea salt (pure unrefined) and turmeric. A teaspoon of turmeric should be consumed daily due to its powerful healthy compounds. Sprinkle on to egg, fish and vegetable dishes or on brown rice and other grains.

Oils (Cold-pressed only and used to cook with or dress vegetables and salads, especially with foods that contain fat-soluble nutrients, such as carotene, to enable absorption)

Coconut oil, flaxseed, grape seed, coconut oil, olive, rapeseed and a blend of sesame and rice bran oils. Also take one capsule of cod liver or krill oil daily, especially during the winter months between October and April in the Northern hemisphere.

Derivatives (To be consumed and used as desired)

Aloe vera juice, anise seed tea, apple cider vinegar, barley grass (powder or juice), bergamot tea, betulinic acid, black strap molasses, brewer's yeast, brine pickles, chamomile tea, green tea, honey, miso, peppermint tea, pine needle tea, tea and tofu. Barley grass is one of the rare plants to contain vitamin B12 so is a useful addition to the diet of those that limit meat intake.
