  • 250 ml of water

  • 140 g (1 cup) of oatmeal

  • One heaped teaspoon of cinnamon

  • Half a teaspoon turmeric

  • One teaspoon of ginger

  • One tablespoon of hemp seeds (ground)

  • One tablespoon of coconut oil*

  • Half a pineapple (peeled, cored and sliced)

  • 250 ml of freshly squeezed orange juice

  • 40 g of ground almonds

  • One tablespoon of of raw honey

  • Cook the oatmeal.

  • In a powerful blender, mix the orange juice, cinnamon, coconut oil, ginger, turmeric, honey, hemp seeds and almonds.

  • Then add the oatmeal and blend again.

  •  Add several ice cubes and blend once more.

*The coconut oil is important as some of the nutrients in this smoothie are fat-soluble and need some oil consumed at the same time in order to be absorbed by the body.

NOTE: Over consumption of oats, which contain purines, can cause problems for those suffering with gout or bladder or kidney stones.
